1. BILL GATES

William Henry “Bill” Gates III is an American businessman, philanthropist, investor, computer programmer, and inventor. Claim to fame, Gates co-founded Microsoft, the world’s largest PC software company, with Paul Allen. Bill Gates is worth 79.2 Billion dollars and holds the ranking for the richest man in the world. He is currently investing in projects worth 2 Billion in renewable energy innovations. He doubled the initial amount he invested into these projects over a period within the next five years and is currently involved in the early stages of these companies that are working on battery storage and high-wind power.

2. CARLOS SLIM HELÙ

Carlos Slim is a Mexican businessman investor and philanthropist. Slim was ranked the richest man in the world back in 2013 and currently holds the ranking of second place at 77.1 billion dollars. Slim can account for altleast 40% of the Mexican stock exchange and his claim to riches include telecommunications which is the chunk of his income, education, health care, industrial manufacturing, food and beverages, real estate, airlines, media, mining, oil, hospitality, entertainment, technology, retail, sports and financial services. Slim is currently working in more charitable events and projects with the likes of Mark Zuckerburg and Bill Gates.

Warren Buffett is an American businessman, investor and philanthropist. He is also the most successful investor of his time. Buffett is the chairman, CEO and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway. Buffett holds the ranking of the third richest in the world at a steady 72.7 billion dollars. He is currently in the process of a Heinz Ketchup deal and still auctions off “power lunches” which in an organisation dedicated to reducing poverty and marginalisation.

4. AMANCIO ORTEGA

Amancio Ortega Gaona is a Spanish fashion businessman and founding chairman of the Inditex fashion group, best known for its chain of Zara clothing and accessories retail shops. Ortega is currently in fourth place with a whopping 68.3 billion dollars .Ortega is very hands on with his company and spends most of his time checking on his company workers and has lunch in their cafeteria. He stepped down from Inditex as chairman in 2012 he still travels to its quarters almost every day.

5. LARRY ELLISON

Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Ellison is an American businessman, programmer, internet entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was the CEO of the software company Oracle Corporation (which is his claim to fame) between its foundation in 1977 and 2014. Ellison is currently ranked the fifth  richest in the world with 54.3 billion dollars. Oracle owner is currently expanding its Cloud services and finding more competitive ways to challenge Amazon.com, “we’re prepared to compete with Amazon.com on price”, said Ellison in a webcast presentation. Still growing, according to last year’s quarter figures his company continues to grow at 2.3 billion a year in revenue.
