AMD has released details of its latest offering of high-end graphics cards, the HD7900 series. While providing significant performance improvements in comparison to the previous generation offerings; its real drawcard is the interesting new technologies it offers.
Known as the AMD Southern Islands family of graphics cards, the HD7900 series features the newly designed Graphics Core Next architecture and is the first series of graphics cards to make use of the PCI-E 3.0 interface – which offers 32Gb/s of bandwidth – and the first to support the latest DirectX 11.1 standard.
